Texture 2016 Lucky Well Vineyard Chardonnay

Texture 2016 Lucky Well Vineyard Chardonnay

Lucky Well Vineyard has established itself as a benchmark for those seeking a Burgundian style of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Under the masterful direction of viticulturist Ulises Valdez, its wines are pure, focused and eminently ageworthy. One of a handful of Chardonnay clones farmed on this small site overlooking Occidental, the Hudson clone traces its roots several decades back to Burgundy and typically supports higher acidity and minerality reminiscent of Chablis. The challenge lies in Hudson’s prohibitively low yields, and with his Lucky Well Vineyard Pinot Noir earning wide acclaim, Ulises made the decision to replace this Chardonnay block with the more bountiful red variety.

Winemaker Notes

Planted by legendary West Sonoma County grower and my old friend, Ulysses Valdez, Lucky Well will always be a special place for me. The Chardonnay from here is second to none for those seeking crisp, structured wine that expresses place.
