Moon Mountain Vineyard is home to a multitude of Cabernet Sauvignon clones, each with unique traits nurtured by the distinct micro-terroirs in which they grow. Elevation, sun exposure, soil type,
rootstock – countless variables factor into each vineyard block’s profile.

Over the years we have developed a wealth of knowledge about the individual personalities of each of the 49 vineyard blocks that make up Moon Mountain Vineyard. Even with that insight, in every vintage there are new secrets revealed to us, a few vineyard rows whose Cabernet Sauvignon far exceeds our expectations. For E∙S∙P we select a small number of these barrels to craft a wine whose opulence and complexity illustrate something previously undiscovered about this special place. We carefully chose a diverse clonal selection of Cabernet Sauvignon from our Feather, Jennifer, Hooker Creek and Terraces blocks to compose a wine with all the elegance of our best blends.
